Anyone who has taken college courses have experienced the great thinker, the "sage on stage," who is absolutely convinced that he/she knows. No doubt some of my students would say I am like this. For what it's worth, below is a rhyme I penned some time back to commemorate the wisdom of the . . .
Learned One
Great doctor--
Your thoughts, gleaming,
shining bright, teeming
with self-proclaimed knowledge;
Lighting the halls of college
learning, the students
yearning, for truth.
Great professor--
Modest in your sophistication,
your choice of words, articulation,
enrapt in your Ph.D.
Hallowed for philosophy,
Platonic thinking conquers,
Demonic foes of truth.
Learned one--
Ambrosia sweet,
a honeyed treat,
exudes from your lips;
A fountain that drips
knowing, words ever
growing, in truth.
